As its name suggests, the Primare CD32 is dedicated to the Compact Disc format. For the many music lovers with large and growing CD collections, the Primare CD32 will ensure that the silver disc continues to provide easy access to ever greater fidelity. Even so, the CD32 will also unlock the vast store of music available from the Internet, playing and controlling MP3 or WMA files via USB or disc. Whichever source you choose the Primare CD 32 will respond with exceptional sound according to the data available.
The Primare CD32 incorporates a dedicated CD-transport (rather than a common multi-format CD/DVD-ROM interface) with a considerable five second buffer memory in order to provide the best jitter suppression and protection from mechanical shock. As determined by user preference, signals may be up-converted to 96kHz in order to provide the twin high-performance Burr-Brown PCM1704 DACs and DF1706 digital filter with as clean a signal as possible. There are no capacitors in the Primare CD32’s signal paths. SMD technology and separate PCB modules are used throughout the design in order to keep the signal paths isolated and short. All analogue and digital audio circuits are supplied from separate R-core transformer windings.
All functions are clearly visible in white OLED characters, which can be dimmed in four stages to match the I32’s display when the units are connected via IR. During operation the displays will auto-dim to a readable level without disturbing the listening experience, which itself can be customised by choosing the preferred sample frequency: 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz or 96 kHz. Comprehensive outputs include balanced (XLR) and unbalanced RCA analogue and professional AES/EBU, SPDIF and TOS-link digital outputs. A specially designed power supply for its microprocessor circuit provides the CD32 with a very low standby power mode of just 0.5W.
