FOCAL & NAIM CELEBRATE 10 YEARS TOGETHER!

United under the umbrella of the VerVent Audio Group since 2011, Focal and Naim are celebrating 10 years together. To commemorate their “tin anniversary”, the brands are releasing a “vintage”, limited edition, high-fidelity system.

The Focal Naim 10th Anniversary Edition comprises Focal’s Sopra N°2 loudspeaker featuring a concrete finish on the side panels and a tin-coloured front panel. Inspired by great feats of architecture, the painted, brushed finishes give a unique and unprecedented metallic effect. A range of Naim electronics powers the loudspeakers: the NDX 2 music streaming device, combined with the NAC 282 and NAP 250 DR pre-amplifiers, all complemented by HiCap and NAPSC power supplies. All of these products feature the tin finish to create an unparalleled, all-round hi-fi system.

1 set Naim NDX 2 Streamer = Tin Colour

With its world-class performance, the versatile and upgradable NDX 2 embodies the current state of the art. A host of features such as high-res UPnPTM streaming, AirPlay, AirPlay 2, Chromecast built-in, Bluetooth (aptX HD), Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Qobuz, Roon compatibility, vTuner internet radio and multiroom streaming as well as digital and USB inputs provide all the connectivity you could wish for.

Our main focus in developing the NDX 2 network player, however, was its performance. Along with Naim’s bespoke streaming platform, we implemented an upgraded DAC and discrete analogue stages. These and numerous other improvements over its acclaimed predecessor make the NDX 2 a sonic force to be reckoned with, offering highly immersive and lively replay quality.

1 set Naim NAC-282 Pre-Amp = Tin Colour

This pre-amp needs two power sources. The digital and control circuits are powered by an INCLUDED NAPSC. The audio circuits of the preamp need an external power supply (sold separately), such as the FlatCap XS, HiCap, or SuperCap. Alternatively, some Naim power amps (the NAP 155 XS and NAP 200) can power these audio circuits.

So for example, you have a Naim 155 XS or Naim NAP 200, you don’t need to buy anything else–the NAC 282 is powered by the included NAPSC + the NAP 200 (using the current interconnect).

If you have any other power amp, you will need to buy the NAC 282 AND a Naim external power supply such as the FlatCap XS, HiCap, or SuperCap.

Step up from the NAC 202 and you arrive at the outstanding NAC 282, which includes the NAPSC power supply unit optionally available on its sibling. The NAPSC independently powers the NAC 282’s digital and control circuits, leaving its audio circuits to either the power supply of a NAC 155 XS or NAP 200 power amplifier or to one of Naim’s standalone FlatCap XS, HiCap or SuperCap power supplies. The result is even greater transparency and superior musicality plus, of course, all the flexibility you’d expect from a Naim preamplifier.

The compact NAPSC comes as standard with the NAC 282 preamplifier and it can also be used as an upgrade for the NAC 202 or to power the HeadLine headphone amplifier. It’s a small but important link in the chain in extracting the highest levels of musical performance from these hi-fi components.

1 set Naim Hi-Cap DR Power Supply = Tin Colour

It may be small, but HiCap’s talent for maximizing your system’s musicality should not be underestimated. A compact power supply partner for almost all of our preamplifiers plus our phono stages and active crossover components, its large toroidal transformer and generous, high-quality smoothing capacitors ensure excellent performance and value. NAC 282 preamplifier owners can enjoy an even better performance by adding an additional, second HiCap to their system.

Each of the power outputs on the HiCap uses Naim Audio’s specially designed discrete regulators for optimum performance. The design can be used to power all of the Naim Audio phono stage preamplifiers, active crossovers, and preamplifiers except the NAC 552 and NAC 252. In the case of the NAC 282 preamplifier, a second HiCap may be used, bringing further improvements. The addition of anti-vibration, resonance-controlling feet complements the elegant new cast and extruded anti-magnetic chassis to protect the sensitive internal components from resonance and microphonic vibration.

The HiCap was updated in 2012 as a result of a two-year project to develop a new discrete regulator (DR) for Naim Audio power supplies. The new Naim Audio DR now features, alongside improvements to the wire routing, mechanical decoupling, and internal layout. These enhancements, developed through intensive listening tests, significantly raise performance and make music even more communicative and enjoyable.

1 set Naim NAP-250DR = Tin Colour

The NAP 250 now features the new NA009 transistors first introduced in Statement. In development for over a year, this key component was created in partnership with a specialist semiconductor manufacturer to achieve the best possible sound quality. The 250 also includes the high-power Naim Audio DR (Discrete Regulator) technology used in Statement to provide the smooth, stable power supply we know is critical for audio electronics to make music come to life.

These two new technologies, combined with other small improvements to layout and componentry, mean the NAP 250 DR can produce even more of the fundamental musical pace, rhythm, and timing that made the originals so popular with music lovers.

1 set Naim Fraim Base Level = Black

Our Fraim equipment support system has been carefully designed to provide the perfect platform for Naim Audio electronics to shine. Each level is carefully isolated from the next using a cup-and-cone interface. An additional, double-layer base platform provides further isolation from resonance. A toughened glass sub-shelf rests on minimal-contact ball decouplers, providing even more isolation.

From the stainless steel spikes, which complete the process of isolation, to the zinc-plated steel nuts and studs that tie everything together, each individual component of the Fraim has been selected for its effect on sound quality. You’d expect nothing less from us.

Sopra N°2 is the new epitome of today’s premium loudspeakers. It perfectly combines dynamics, space optimization, and harmonic richness.

Sopra n°2 clearly inaugurates a new era for the “Premium High End” by taking into account new performance criteria. Compact, modern, a pure design, character… all these are essential factors to ensure perfect integration into your interior.

Equipped with best midrange drivers ever developed by Focal, with the NIC and TMD technologies, Sopra n°2 pushes back the limits of sound reproduction in terms of transparency in a very compact enclosure. Indeed, unlike Utopia, which is extravagant by essence and where size is by no means a constraint, Sopra aims for maximal compactness to ensure easy integration into reasonably sized rooms. Sopra n°2 is perfectly at ease in rooms measuring up to 320ft2 (30m2), and is even ideal for larger rooms measuring up to 750ft2 (70m2).
