Signature Audio S
QED, the UK’s leading producer of specialist hi-fi and video cables for more than three decades, is pleased to introduce ‘QED Signature Audio S’, its best ever audio interconnect. Signature Audio S is the first of a completely new range of ‘no compromise’ cables which, as well as analogue audio, will include digital audio, analogue video, HDMI and dedicated sub-woofer cables.
QED is a brand of Armour Home, Phil Davis the QED Brand Manager said: “Good cable design is all about science, not black magic. It comes solely from adhering to sound scientific principles and utilising the highest quality materials. No QED cable will ever deviate from this path and of course, the new Signature cables are no exception. However, with this new range we wanted to go further. So, to be frank, we let the design team ‘off the leash’ and simply told them to design a truly great cable, one which would successfully compete against any other cable, irrespective of price.”
Mr Davis concluded: “It will come as no surprise, to anyone familiar with QED’s renowned reputation, that our design team’s response, the Signature Audio S, has answered our simple design brief completely.”
The true high-end performance of the new cable is attained by deploying six conductors in a twisted, quasi-balanced geometry for both signal and return, resulting in a significant reduction in magnetically induced distortion.
In addition, using three pairs of parallel conductors effectively reduces the self inductance, improving the high frequency response when used with low input impedance equipment. The cable’s silver plating provides a useful improvement in resistance at the periphery of the conductors, where high frequency current densities are greatest due to the skin effect. Outstanding ‘voltage spike induced noise rejection’ is achieved by the use of a tightly woven outer shielding braid and aluminised Mylar wrap, which provide a 100% electrostatic screen. Naturally, to optimise both screening and signal integrity, the screen is not used for the signal return path.
The new Signature Range is luxuriously packaged and presented as befits products of this quality.
Price: The Signature Audio S has a recommended retail price of £190 inc. vat at 15% for a one metre pair.
Availability: The new cable is available now from QED dealers worldwide.

First of all, congrats to CMY for setting up this blog, although I am about a year behind time.
May I just bug in and say something about these cables. Last year I purchased an LCD TV and boy did I regret it. Because, 99% of the time we watch Astro and the picture quality was rubbish. I can afford to continuosly buy BlueRay discs! And not always the title you like is available. I changed the cables to good quality and feed cords to Philips S-Video cable and installed a line amplifier. But the improvement was a mere 1% or less.
So now, we have Astro Beyond. This should be a resque mission for all LCD TV owners in Malaysia. And I hope, the set will be supplied with a reasonably good HDMI cable. If no, I’ll sure be walking into CMY soon.
CMY, keep up the good job. Here a tip to increase traffic to your dealership. Run an article on what additional things can be done to improve Digital transmission (Ass-tro) and please bundle a B’Yond package – I’ll be your first customer.
Thanks, Ali
